This Nimar A1 electronic underwater housing is for the Sony Hdr - Hc 9e high-definition camcorder. The housing is directly molded from aluminum die block, in order to avoid problems such as pores or burrs that usually happen when housings are cast. Your camcorder is protected with a double o-ring seal and secure clips on two sides that prevent the housing from accidentally opening up. The housing has a depth rating of 492'.
All primary camera controls except for the mechanical on/off switch are accessed by infrared through the housing body. This avoids the need for mechanical controls to penetrate the housing, greatly decreasing the chance of a flood. The housing features are laid out in a compact, easy-to-use design. The housing allows the user to access most controls on the hand grip with the touch of a button. Also included is a flip-down color correction filter that provides easy transitions between ambient and artificial light.
The super-wide-angle port has a 90° angle of view. This allows you to get closer to your subject. Less water between you and your subject will produce more contrast and better color, thereby increasing the quality of your footage. A wide-angle lens is the only way to go in order to film large fish, shipwrecks, and underwater scenes that include divers. The port still allows macro mode and full zoom range of the camcorder's lens.
The enlarged optical viewfinder provides enhanced viewing through the optical viewfinder, even while you are wearing a diving mask. The optional TFT 3.5 active matrix monitor makes framing, focusing and other settings easy to see even in bright sunlight. Other features include a moisture alarm and red LED light to alert you when the camera is recording.
